1. Introduction

Qurio, LLC ("Qurio," "we," "our," or "us") operates the Qurio mobile application (the "App") and the website located at getquriokids.com (the "Website"), a bedtime learning experience designed for parents and children to share together. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our users, and especially the privacy of children.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, with whom we share it, and the rights you have regarding your information. Please read it carefully. By creating an account or using the App or Website, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

Qurio is designed for parents and legal guardians. All accounts are created and controlled by a parent or guardian ("Parent User"). Children do not create accounts and do not interact directly with the App's account or data features.

2. Children's Privacy and COPPA Compliance

Qurio takes children's privacy seriously and complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA") and its implementing regulations.

Accounts are parent-controlled

All Qurio accounts are created and held by parents or legal guardians, not by children. A child does not register, log in, or independently access the App. The parent controls the account, manages child profiles, and is responsible for all activity.

What child information we collect

When a Parent User creates a child profile within their account, we collect:

We do not collect a child's email address, phone number, precise location, photographs, or any other personal information directly from a child.

How we use child information

Child profile information is used only to:

We do not use child information for advertising, marketing, or any purpose beyond operating the App for that family.

We do not sell or share children's data

We never sell, rent, or share personal information about children with third parties for marketing, advertising, or any commercial purpose. Child data is shared with our service providers only to the extent necessary to operate the App (see Section 6).

Parental rights

As a Parent User, you have the right at any time to:

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@getquriokids.com.

3. Information We Collect About Parent Users

Information you provide

When you create a Qurio account, we collect:

When you subscribe to Qurio Premium, payment is processed entirely by Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not collect or store your credit card number, billing address, or other payment details. We receive only a subscription status confirmation from our subscription management provider (RevenueCat).

Information collected automatically

When you use the App, we automatically collect certain technical and usage information, including:

We do not collect your precise GPS location. We may infer a general country or region from your IP address for legal compliance purposes only.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

We do not use your information or your child's information for behavioral advertising. Qurio does not serve ads.

5. How We Store and Protect Your Information

Your data is stored on Supabase, a secure cloud database platform. All data is encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption. All data transmitted between the App and our servers uses Transport Layer Security (TLS).

We implement row-level security on our database, meaning each parent account can only access its own family's data. Your password is never stored in plain text.

While we use industry-standard security measures, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we are committed to protecting your information using reasonable and appropriate safeguards.

You are responsible for keeping your account password confidential. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately at privacy@getquriokids.com.

6. Third-Party Service Providers

We work with a small number of trusted third-party service providers to operate the App. These providers access your information only as necessary to perform services on our behalf and are contractually bound to protect your data.

Our current service providers are:

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any advertising analytics platforms. We do not share your data with data brokers or marketing companies.

7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and to provide information to website operators. Similar technologies include web beacons, pixel tags, and local storage.

How Qurio uses cookies and tracking technologies

Our Website (getquriokids.com) may use the following types of cookies and tracking technologies:

Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential for the Website to function and cannot be disabled. They include cookies that remember your cookie consent preferences and session-related technical cookies. No personal data is stored in these cookies beyond what is strictly necessary for the Website to function.

Functional cookies

These cookies allow the Website to remember choices you make and provide enhanced, more personalized features. For example, they may remember your email address if you have submitted a waitlist form so that you are not asked to submit it again. These cookies do not track your activity on other websites.

Analytics cookies

We may use analytics tools to understand how visitors interact with our Website — such as which pages are visited most, how long visitors stay, and where they come from. This information is collected in an aggregated, anonymized form and is used solely to improve the Website. Where analytics cookies are used, they are configured to minimize data collection and do not track you across third-party websites.

If and when we deploy analytics tools on the Website (such as Google Analytics or a privacy-friendly alternative), we will update this section to identify the specific tool and provide opt-out instructions.

Marketing and advertising cookies

Qurio does not use marketing or advertising cookies. We do not use cookies to track you across third-party websites, build behavioral profiles, or deliver targeted advertising. No advertising network cookies, Facebook Pixel, Google Ads tags, or similar technologies are present on our Website.

Third-party cookies

Our Website may include integrations with third-party services (such as our waitlist form provider, Formspree). These third parties may set their own cookies on your device when you interact with their features. We do not control these cookies and recommend reviewing the privacy policies of any third-party services you interact with.

Cookie duration

Cookies used on the Website are either:

We use only session and short-duration persistent cookies where strictly necessary.

Managing your cookie preferences

You can control and manage cookies in several ways:

Because Qurio does not use advertising or tracking cookies, opting out of such technologies on our Website will have minimal impact on your experience. The Website is designed to function fully without non-essential cookies.

Do Not Track

Some browsers transmit "Do Not Track" (DNT) signals to websites. Because we do not engage in behavioral tracking or cross-site advertising, our Website does not change its data collection practices in response to DNT signals — not because we ignore your privacy preferences, but because we do not track you in the manner DNT signals are designed to prevent.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

To delete your account and all associated child profile data, you may:

Children's data: Upon account deletion, all child profile data — including names, birthdates, session history, saved facts, streaks, and QSparks — will be permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.

Your parent account credentials will also be deleted within 30 days. We will retain your name and email address for up to two (2) years following account closure to send you information about Qurio updates. You may opt out at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or contacting us at privacy@getquriokids.com.

9. Your Privacy Rights

All users

You have the right to:

California residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, the right to delete your personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. Qurio does not sell personal information. To exercise your California privacy rights, contact us at privacy@getquriokids.com. We will respond within 45 days.

10. Push Notifications

If you enable push notifications, we will send you bedtime reminders, streak alerts, birthday reminders, and QSparks milestone notifications based on your preferences. You can manage or disable notifications at any time in the App under Settings > Notifications, or through your device's notification settings.

11. No Advertising

Qurio does not display advertisements. We do not use advertising networks, ad tracking pixels, or third-party marketing analytics. We will never show ads to you or your child within the App.

12. Links to Other Services

The App may include share cards or other features that interact with third-party platforms. This Privacy Policy applies only to information collected by Qurio. If you choose to share content to a third-party platform, that platform's own privacy policy applies.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this policy and notify you via email or in-app notification. For material changes — especially any changes affecting how we handle children's data — we will provide prominent notice and, where required by law, obtain your consent before the changes take effect.
